Lessons From A Lady: Syndee Winters Sings Lena Horne is an immersive journey through time via the music and life-story of entertainment legend, Lena Horne – brought to life on stage by recording and stage star, 2024 Sarah Vaughan International Vocal Jazz Competition Award-Winner, Syndee Winters.
With her captivating voice and presence, Ms. Winters, deftly reveals why Ms. Horne is considered one of the most influential Black pioneers in entertainment. While facing personal trials and combating racial barriers in Hollywood, Lena Horne found her voice. She disrupted the status quo and rose to be a celebrated activist in the civil rights movement, while collaborating with some of the greatest musical artists of the 20th century, leaving her own indelible mark on our collective conscious. Experience the remarkable life and music of this singular star in this concert.
THE SHOW
Syndee Winters’ one-woman, 75-minute celebration of Lena Horne’s life and music is “modernized,” through traditional and contemporary musical arrangements, connecting Lena’s legacy to multiple generations.
The concert features Lena Horne’s most famous songs, written by icons of the era such as: Kern & Hammerstein, Cole Porter, Jule Styne, Rodgers and Hart, Cab Calloway, Harold Arlen, and more, as well as contemporary, original music, showcasing both Lena’s career and influential legacy.
